On the Sinister Stratford Guided Walk you’ll take a trip into the past for around an hour and a half to find out about the dark and disgusting history of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Over the course of 90 minutes you will hear tales of plague, murder, ghosts, torture, kidnap, grizzly deaths and witches. If that’s not enough there’s some crackpot medicine, raw sewage, grave robbing, a serial killer and more thrown in too.
And of course, with this being Stratford-upon-Avon, some of these stories are linked back to Shakespeare’s life and death, others are said to have influenced him, and you will of course see several of the sites which he was associated with as we take in most of the historical spine of Stratford.

Subject to demand and scheduling, our public tours happen at 3pm, 5pm and 7pm most days. While you can pay on the day (cash or card), it’s best to contact us beforehand to make sure that tour is running and isn’t full. We also offer private tours for groups, businesses, schools and colleges.
The tour is circular, so you end up back where you started. The walk which is both wheelchair and dog friendly are timed to take an hour and a half, but with larger groups this make take longer. The tour will go at the pace of the slowest participant. The route is accessible for wheelchair and scooter users, though there are cobbles and a wooden boardwalk, which can be bumpy for those on wheels.
